fall icons

I'm finally getting into a proper fall mood, so naturally I had to make a few mood boards (or technically corkboards?) inspired by some of my favorite fall fashion and aesthetic icons.

1. Bella Swan

Of course I had to make one for her. She’s basically the epitome of comfy and cozy fall fashion. Forks is actually pretty similar to where I live weather-wise, so I love that Bella’s outfits feel both practical and genuinely cute.

The layered look just adds so much to the coziness of her fits, and I swear henley tops look flattering on literally everyone. I still have yet to acquire the perfect knit cardigan, but I’m hopeful I’ll eventually find one while thrifting.

2. Elena Gilbert

Another vampire obsessed diva. Similarly to Bella, Elena wears a lot of henley tops, layered clothing, cardigans, and jackets. I feel like her overall silhouette is a little more elegant and refined than Bella’s, though. She also tends to accessorize more, which makes her outfits feel a bit more polished and put together.

I feel like I'd wear Bella’s outfits on a casual stroll through the woods and Elena's to run some errands in town.

3. Taylor Swift

Although people tend to associate her with bright red lipstick and sparkly concert fashion, there’s a fall diva hidden deep inside her. Her twee era is genuinely one of my favorites to look back on, and the fits were soooo adorable.

I think most of the pictures on my mood board are from around 2010 to 2012, when she was constantly wearing colorful tights, skirts, knit sweaters and all sorts of very fall coded pieces. I also feel like she briefly returned to this kind of style around the folklore and evermore era. It suits her so well.

4. Zooey Deschanel

I just looove her fashion sense. She’s basically the twee blueprint. Her outfits always feel so well coordinated, and I love that she still uses so much color even in her fall looks. It makes them feel really fresh compared to the more muted outfits I usually associate with the season.

Unlike Bella or Elena, she wears a lot of skirts and dresses, which really adds to her already very feminine style. And her bangs!!! Sooo iconic and somehow incredibly fall coded.
Of course I’m talking about Zooey herself here but her outfits in New Girl are also adorable and such good inspiration.

5. Lorelai Gilmore

It wouldn’t be a fall themed list without gilmore girls. I think the obvious choice would probably be Rory, but Lorelai’s outfits are so underrated.

A lot of the time she’s kind of a mess, but when she actually tries, she looks sooo put together. I also love that so many of her outfits are basically office appropriate while still feeling cute and very early 2000s fall. As a corporate girlie myself I’m naturally obsessed.

So those were my top five fall icons! I look to these divas for inspiration every single fall.

I had such a blast making these mood boards, and now I feel sooo ready for the chilly weather to come.

Do you agree with my picks? Who are your fall icons? Let me know in the comments <3

Love,

Tess

  2. I like Bella’s and Elena’s outfits. They look great in it, and I’d wear something like that because it looks good on them—but in reality, it wouldn’t look the same on me lol.
