alter ego

Hi guys, just a quick update! I decided to create a brand new blog for shts and giggles, as they say. Truth is, I'm a multifaceted woman and I feel like the confines of this blog's aesthetic wouldn't allow me to post all the things I'd want to.  Of course, this will still be my main blog, my second blog will be just a place to ramble and vent <3 You can find the new blog here .

Love,

Tess

fall icons

I'm finally getting into a proper fall mood, so naturally I had to make a few mood boards (or technically corkboards?) inspired by some of my favorite fall fashion and aesthetic icons.

corfu

Hi everyone, sorry for not posting for a few days! I'm currently on a little vacation with my sister <3

It honestly feels like I'm reliving my childhood vacations, except now I'm seeing everything through adult eyes. It's so different, yet somehow so familiar. I haven't been on a resort vacation since I was a child, so this is taking me wayyy back.

The only difference is that I can drink now, I have no curfew, and I can stay up as late as I want. Sweet!

I wanted to give you a little update, share some pictures and memories, and have this post to look back on in the future <3

25th

So... I'm officially not a young adult anymore.

I celebrated my 25th last week ... and, to be frank, it was kind of underwhelming.

I usually love celebrating things, but for some reason, this year it just didn't hit the same anymore.

These past few months, I've been overwhelmed with law school, my job, responsibilities, and just life in general. Even on my birthday, I felt like I'd lost the ability to simply switch gears and enjoy things as they come. It feels like my brain is constantly overworking itself, and I'm somehow unable to do anything about it.

I decided to throw a birthday party for myself and invited my close family (which is still approximately 14 people) and  it was genuienly probably the worst idea I've ever had.

so… what did law school actually teach me?

what . . . like it's hard?

It's been almost half a year since I graduated from law school. It still feels a little surreal not having to worry about exams, being cold called in class, or trying to memorize hundreds and hundreds of pages.

But what did law school actually teach me?

I mean, the obvious answer would be law... and to some degree, it did teach me that. Although, if I'm being fair, I feel like a lot of the time it was me teaching myself the law.

So instead, I wanted to write about some of the lessons law school taught me that might not be quite so obvious at first glance. And here they are:

1. Public speaking

I'm innately an introverted person. Especially when it comes to speaking in front of larger groups. But law school has a way of forcing you out of that shell and pushing you way past your comfort zone. It was genuienly nerve wracking the first few times I got cold called in class.

I get chills down my spine just remembering how I used to stutter when answering . . .

being a horse girl without a horse

I’m like deathly allergic to horses.

When I was younger, I begged and begged my parents to let me take riding lessons. They were a teensy bit overprotective and worried I’d get trampled (which looking back, was honestly a pretty reasonable concern, I was an incredibly clumsy child).

Eventually though all that begging paid off and my mom took me to a local pony ranch. I was ecstatic.
Unfortunately it took approximately five minutes before I started sneezing. Then wheezing. Then slowly suffocating. Was it the hay? The horses?  Not sure, but I've never went riding ever again.

Naturally, I compensated for this cruel twist of fate by becoming completely obsessed with horse media.

Horse movies. Horse books. Horse comics. Horse games. Horse magazines. If there was a horse on the cover, I probably wanted it. I was trying my best to retain the essence of being a horse girl through media consumption.

So here’s some of the horse media from my childhood that I still remember vividly:

digital pet wishlist

As you may or may not know, I've been obsessed with digital pets for a long time. Something about taking care of a bunch of pixels on a tiny screen just does it for me.

Although I never actually owned a tamagotchi growing up, I did have two LPS digital pets. One was a small cat keychain, much less tamagotchi-esque and much more about exploring a tiny pixelated world and playing minigames.

The second one was a little bit bigger, a diary style digital pet that came with a stylus. It even had a touchscreen (!!), which was lowkey revolutionary to me at the time.

Digital pets have evolved so much since then, so I made a wishlist of the ones I currently have my eye on:
